And so it began.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the blog used to hold the writings of my running.  The training, the relays, the marathons.

In the last two and a half years, not nearly as much running writing.  Mostly because there hasn’t been much running.  For some of that time, I had valid reasons for not running.  Illness or soccer-related injury makes it hard to keep up a schedule sometimes.  But, for the most part, I got very, very lazy.

No longer!  (I hope)  For last month, I decided I wanted to run the Denver Marathon.  And as of the 6th, the training plan for that race has been in effect.

The first week went great.  I ran all of the days and miles I was supposed to run.  17 miles total with an 8 mile long run, which I actually surpassed by 2.3 miles.

And then, on the second week, it all went to hell.  We are not surprised.

Tuesday’s run took place in the cold and rain.  So much rain that my running clothes were still wet Wednesday morning, so I convinced myself I’d run that night.  Didn’t happen.  No biggie, I thought, it’s only a 2 mile run.  Then Thursday’s run was canceled on account of I’m lazy.

I suck so much.

I did manage to drag my unmotivated butt out for my long run today.  But I didn’t manage to run all of it.  My legs were, and still are, completely dead thanks to playing two soccer games yesterday.  So, out of a planned 4 runs and 18 miles, I manged to do two of the runs and 9 miles.

I can sum that up in three words:  not.  very.  good.  But I keep trying to convince myself it’s better than I was doing as recently as two months ago and to focus on the positives.

Yeah, because I do that so well.

How’s that new plan working for you?

Three months have now gone by and I have yet to write about anything meaningful. And this will be a shock to nobody.

But April will be different! My training plan for the next marathon I’d like to run starts next week, so I can start talking about running again. At least that’s how the theory goes.

And soccer has restarted as for last Saturday. So there’s that.

And that life I’ve been meaning to get? Maybe this’ll be the month that finally happe…yeah, that’s not happening.

Oh, I can write my thoughts on my blog? Who knew?

A couple of days ago, I really wanted to Tweet about the absurdly obnoxious woman sitting at the table next to me where I was having lunch.  However, that was one of the times where 140 characters just isn’t enough space to express my distain, no matter how creatively I wrote.  It occurs to me now, two days later, that, hey, I could have blogged about it!  I even have a handy WordPress app on my phone that makes posting very easy.

In other words, I’m a utter nitwit.  But we already knew that.

I’ll try to write some normal-sized posts and not just make them all Twitter+ in length.  At the moment, though, I’m a little handicaped by the lack of Internet in the new apartment.  Yes, I’ve been completely lazy about getting many things taken care of in the new home, Internet service included.

And running.  I really missing writing about running.  I also miss running, which I’ve slowly been working on fixing.  Maybe after tomorrow’s, I’ll try to revisit the glory days and blog about it afterwards.  Won’t that be nostalgic?

So, we meet again, Garden State…

A month between posts.  Sadly, this is a considerable improvement for me.  *sigh*

What’s new with me?  I’m sick.  Thus I haven’t been able to run lately, putting my March marathon hopes in jeopardy.  But I’ll elaborate on that more later.  (Translation:  April)

The bigger news is I finally got a new apartment.  I’m heading back to Jersey.  I’m…sure there are a number of jokes to be made, either at my expense or the state’s, but my slightly-expired NyQuil is starting to kick in, so I’m drawing a blank.

I took lots of photos of the place before I started moving my meagre possessions in, totally planning to write a magnificant post to unveil the new digs.  And then I realized I packed the camera cable in one of the boxes.  And, no, I didn’t label any of the boxes.  Seriously?  Did you expect anything different?

So, the next time we meet, I will be illness-free and will present photos of a furniture-less and poorly-lit apartment.  Oh, the anticipation!

Hello world!…for the fourth time…maybe the fifth…

I am such a sucker for clean slates.  It’s probably bordering on obsessive compulsive disorder at this point.

But it’s been three months since I wrote anything, and, overall, the last attempt at maintaining the blog was…let’s say feeble.  And it’s the start of a new year.  Mix those together and you me downloading the latest version of WordPress, creating a new MySQL database and mentally promising myself I’m really going to do a good job this time.

It’s a bad sign when you’re so jaded, you don’t even believe yourself, right?  Thought so.

So!  2009!  Yeah…

I have no new year resolutions.  Well, to be accurate, I have no new resolutions this year.  Run more, lose weight, figure out what I wan to be when I grow up, learn a new programming language or five and get better at the ones I know, read more, go to more new events.  We’ll see.  I have a good feeling that this year can’t possibly be as unproductive as last year.  Really.  I can’t even jinx myself by saying that, 2008 was so no good.

After all that positive talk, I’m going to end today’s…oh, hell, let’s call it what it is…this month’s post in the only fitting way.
